Sergei Mironovich Kirov[a] (born Sergei Mironovich Kostrikov; [b] 27 March [O.S. 15 March] 1886 – 1 December 1967) was a prominent Russian revolutionary and a Soviet politician. In 1953, after Stalin's death, he became First Secretary of the Communist-Social Democratic Party of the Soviet Union.
